Babies go unnamed until the royal baby name is announced!
New parents delay naming their newborns until they learn the royal baby‘s name
Record numbers of newborn babies are expected to go unnamed this month as parents across the country wait to discover the name chosen by the royal couple.
Parents are given six weeks to register their baby’s name and that means thousands are expected to pause for thought until they hear the news from Clarence House.
Experts believe that thousands of couples are likely to find inspiration in the choice of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and follow suit.
Leading discount shopping website, Netvouchercodes.co.uk, asked 400 mums to be if they would consider holding off on choosing a name until they discovered the royal couple’s choice.
More than 10 per cent (42 mums) said they were hoping to postpone having to name their offspring until they heard the royal name.
The new royal arrival, due on the 13th July, has sent the UK into a betting frenzy, with bookmakers reporting the name Alexandra as favourite for a girl, and George for a boy.
The list of potential names for the new royal arrival ranges from traditional choices such as Prince James to more modern choices including Princess Waynetta (a 500/1 shot if you fancy your chances).
One heavily pregnant mum-to-be commented: “My husband and I have decided to wait to see what the royal baby is called before naming ours.
“We have thought of quite a few names but we both decided it would be lovely to see what Will and Kate choose first. I love the name Alexandra so if we have a girl then it may well be the most straight forward decision we have to make.”
Another respondent told pollsters: “I’d love for Will and Kate to go away from the ordinary and name their baby something really unique such as Princess Angel or Prince Dolphin. I’m sure they will stick to something traditional but it would be so fun and creative for them to surprise everybody with something unexpected.”
A third mum-to-be said: “My baby is due before the royal baby, but I already know I definitely want it to have the same name. The birth of Will and Kate’s baby is such a monumental event that is going to be remembered forever, just like the royal wedding. Giving my baby the same name is my personal way of celebrating.”
A spokesperson for Netvouchercodes.co.uk said: "The birth of the royal baby is hugely exciting; when someone famous has a baby the naming of it can be important to many people. Whatever name the royal couple choose there is no doubt that there will be thousands of babies who will also share the same name."
