‘Pregnant’ baby survives life saving operation
Kang Mengru has unborn twin removed from her stomach
The one-year-old Chinese girl who was carrying her unborn foetus in her stomach, underwent a life saving operation to remove it – and survived.
Funds for the operation was raised by her foster parents, who took her in after her biological parents abandoned her.
It wasn’t certain if the operation would be successful as the unborn foetus inside Kang’s stomach was draining her blood supply and crushing her organs, meaning surgery would be a risk.
Doctors in Zhenzhou, China, successfully removed her unborn brother and Kang is reported to be doing well.
