A new study by researchers at Zurich’s University Hospital claims that there’s a ‘best' time of day to try for a baby.

Dr Brigitte Leeners, who led the study, said: "Male semen quality varies with both circadian and circannual rhythms.

"Collection of semen in the early morning, where semen quality was highest, can be used to improve natural fertility."

Yep, they’re basically saying that early AM is the best time to have sex if you’re trying to conceive. 7.30AM, apparently, the optimum time.

The researchers also say that the most fertile months for men are March, April and May – but the hot summers that follow are the least fertile.

How did they figure all this out? Well, the researchers looked at the:

  • sperm count
  • motility
  • size shape
  • concentration

- of 7,068 sperm samples, all from men between the ages of 25 and 40.

All of these things were at their peak in the morning, after the men woke up.

Hey, if you're trying to conceive right now, trying in the morning too can't hurt your chances, right?

Have your say

Do you think you conceived at this ‘optimum’ time? Perhaps you conceived in May, June or July?
