MFM Awards 2024 Winners — Nappies, changing and potty training products
Disposable and reusable nappies, eco-friendly wet wipes, potties and changing bags – discover the 2024 winners in the MadeForMums awards nappies, changing and potty categories.
Bearing in mind the average baby getting through over 4,000 nappies by the time they're potty trained, MadeForMums’ team of expert and parent testers have been busy trying out a huge range to help you make the best choice for your family.
We’ve looked at every type and stage of nappy, examining them for leak-proof effectiveness, ease of use and comfort, as well as taking into account factors like sustainability and value.
Our army of parents tested the products with their own children, while our editorial team put each nappy through group tests, comparing each one against a checklist of features and requirements.
We’ve also tried dozens of different wipes, changing mats and bags to find this year’s winning products to make nappy changes as smooth as possible.

Reusable nappy

Gold — Bambino Mio, Revolutionary Reusable Nappy, £19.99
Why it’s a winner: This innovative new nappy design claims to fit babies from newborn to toddler, and our judges were impressed by home testers's high scores for fit and comfort. Despite comprising 2 separate parts – an adjustable outer shell with a pocket that holds a removable absorbent pad – our parents found them very easy to use and launder. “Really well made from soft fabric," enthused one parent tester who found that the Revolutionary Reusable kept her baby dry for around 3.5 hours using the daily pad, and was impressed that the absorbency is customisable using extra booster pads. Our testers also loved the Velcro waist fastening for quick and easy nappy changes, and the potential to save money compared to using disposable alternatives.
In the words of parent tester Victoria, who tested this with their 3 month old: "There are lots of fantastic features that make this a great reusable nappy and I feel the ease of use, high quality and exceptional fit – even for small, slim babies – makes it worth the money. We have had no leaks as they fit perfectly. In fact, I’ve been so impressed I’ve bought 5 more!"

Best for: Silky soft feel and pretty patterns.
In the words of parent tester Jessica, who tested this with their 2 month old: "The look and feel of these nappies is the best I've come across for reusables and, unlike some, the Pearl Pocket All-in-One fits really well under clothes. They’re very well made using beautiful fabrics in nice prints and are easy to use — the good quality absorbent inner liner is attached to the nappy shell so it can be slipped in after washing."

Bronze — The Nappy Den Winnie The Pooh Pocket Nappy One Size, £15
Best for: Cute gender-neutral designs for older/bigger babies.
In the words of parent tester Becky, who tested this with their 6-month-old twins: "The inner fleece on this nappy is soft and comfortable and feels much nicer than the inside of a plastic-y disposable nappy. It is also breathable, reducing nappy rash, and has a slot for the absorbent pads. I like the gender-neutral design and thought the poppers were great for adjusting the nappy."

Biodegradable/eco-friendly disposable nappy
Key features we tested/judged — Absorbency, softness against baby’s skin, fit, eco credentials, value for money.
Gold — Pura Nappies, £7.50 per pack
Why it’s a winner: Made from organic cotton and plant-based materials, our panel felt these dermatologically tested nappies a great option for babies with sensitive or allergy prone skin. Offering up to 12 hours leak-free protection, they are also EU Ecolabel verified, promising to have a low environmental impact. “Lovely and soft, easy to use and comfortable for baby as they are super absorbent and last the night,” said one parent tester, who also loved the eco-conscious element of these nappies, in particular the recyclable paper packaging and being the only UK baby brand recycling nappies, keeping them out of landfill. Our testers found the nappies could be put on quickly thanks to well-positioned and easy-to-open grippy side tabs, and also fitted well, while “the cuff round the leg kept the leaks in beautifully.”
In the words of parent tester Ashley, who tested this with their 1 year old: "These nappies are buttery soft and incredibly well designed; they are easy to use on my wriggly baby and didn’t leak at all, even overnight. I was pleasantly surprised by how evenly they absorbed moisture, not just at the front but throughout. Pura is also smashing the eco-friendly category and it’s great to support a caring brand."
Silver — Kit & Kin Eco Nappies, £8 per pack
Best for: Protecting from poonamis.
In the words of parent tester Hannah, who tested this with their 4 month old: "These nappies offer a perfect fit, with no red marks left around the legs or waist, and sit higher at the back to effectively contain poo explosions! Each nappy felt soft and it was reassuring to know the plant-derived materials were helping to protect my baby’s skin as well as the future of his world."
Biodegradable/eco-friendly wet wipes
Key features we tested/judged — Ease of use, effectiveness, quality and design, value for money, eco credentials.
Gold — Jackson Reece Kinder by Nature Water-Based Wipes, £2
Why it’s a winner: "Better than both big and own brand baby wipes," according to one parent tester, these compostable wipes are brilliant for babies with sensitive skin or eczema as they are incredibly gentle. Leaving bottoms clean and soothed, one parent tester said her baby usually gets terrible nappy rash from wipes but didn’t get any with these: "Each wipe felt clean, fresh and kind to my baby’s skin, with no need for rubbing or repeat wiping". Getting them out of the soft packaging is a cinch, with a tester commenting: "They’re easy to separate and pull out of the pack neatly, which is no small thing when you’re dealing with a poonami!" and they also stay moist, with "the last wipe just as wet as the first". All our judges and testers were impressed with the Kinder by Nature Wipes' eco-credentials: even the packet is recyclable.
In the words of parent tester Charlotte, who tested this with their 4 month old and 2 year old: “These wipes are perfect! They’re well-saturated yet absorbent, so clean effectively, meaning I use fewer of them, and the robust packaging keeps them moist, making them good value for money. Bronze — Kindr Biodegradable Sensitive Baby Wipes, £2.95
Best for: An eco-friendly option for sensitive skin.
In the words of parent tester Sophie, who tested this with their 10 month old and 3 year old: "The quality of these wipes is amazing; they’re very thick and soft with a great amount of moisture. They feel just like cotton wool and water so are kind to a baby’s delicate skin but also tough enough to clean a toddler's mucky fingers as the wipes don’t tear easily. They come out of the packet one at a time with ease, making them a pleasure to use."

Gold — Aldi Mamia Newborn Premium Nappy Size 1, 85p
Why it’s a winner: Working out at just pennies a nappy, these are "an absolute bargain" for those first few weeks of frequent bottom changes. Despite the budget price they feel and perform on par with much more expensive nappies; the fastenings have good stretchiness compared to other brands, making it easy to secure the nappy on a wriggly baby, and the lovely animal designs show which way round the nappy should go."

Buy from: Tesco
Bronze — Aldi Mamia Ultra-Fit Nappy Size 7, £2.79
Best for: Comfort for active toddlers.
In the words of parent tester Kimberley, who tested this with their 2 year old: "These nappies are well made and sturdy, with tough tapes that ensure the nappy stays put even on the wriggliest toddler. My child barely noticed she was wearing the nappy so it was clearly very comfortable for her; she also showed no signs of discomfort after wetting the nappy, proving it’s absorbent too. I was particularly pleased that the nappies didn’t leak at all overnight."

Why it’s a winner: Proving that great quality and effective leak prevention can still be good value, Rascal + Friends have come out top of the bottoms for nappy pants. One parent tester and mum of twins declared these, "10/10 for comfort, fit and reliable leak protection for active toddlers," as she was so impressed with how well these nappy pants performed on her boys. "There was no rubbing or marks left on the skin and zero leaks – even after a long overnight wear." All our testers appreciated the cute CoComelon design that helps you tell the front from the back, as well as the sticky tab on the back which secures the used, folded nappy.
In the words of parent tester Megan, who tested this with their 2 year old: "These generously sized and absorbent nappy pants are great quality for the price and keep little ones dry and comfortable day and night. The CoComelon design will appeal to fans but is subtle enough to be suitable for any child, while the elasticated waistband has plenty of stretch for growing room and to make it easy for toddlers to pull up and down – and the sides rip easily for removal."

The packaging, which features a resealable lid that prevents the wipes drying out, got the thumbs up all round, with one parent tester adding, "the fact the wipes come out one at a time rather than in clumps is amazing."

Easy to use and made from sustainably-sourced vegan leather, the bag has multiple pockets and compartments to keep all your bits and pieces organised. The chunky zips felt durable and our parent testers loved how much space there was inside, the easy to open magnetic front flap and the comfortable padded straps.
In the words of parent tester Shauna who tested this with their 3 month old: "It is perfectly sized – not too big and cumbersome, and not so small that it's bulging at the seams with nappies and wipes. The buttery-soft faux leather looks expensive and comparable to the real deal, and the chunky YKK zips and magnetic closures add to the high quality."

Gold — BabyDam SuperSnug Anti Roll Baby Changing Mat, £29.99

Both testers and judges were impressed by the anti-roll design and felt the mat did the job better than those which simply relied on gentle curves. Durable and easy to clean, this mat should cope well with the rigours of everyday use. Parent tester Bonny found the mat’s slight incline helped her 4 month old who has reflux and described it as “just the right amount of firmness to create a comfy yet stable surface.”
In the words of parent tester Rebecca, who tested this with their 3 month old: "It’s a lovely cushioned changing mat and my son always looks really comfortable on it when I'm changing his nappy.
