  • 125ml Red lentils
  • A glug of olive oil
  • 1 Onion
  • 500ml Water
  • 1 Sweet potato
  • ½tsp Coriander
  • ½tsp Turmeric
  • ½tsp Cinnamon
  • Pitta bread
    cut into 20 strips

    Method

    • step 1

      Heat the oil in a medium saucepan and sauté the onion for a few minutes until well softened. Add the remaining spices and cook for 5 more minutes.

    • step 2

      Add 500ml water and stir, then add the sweet potato and lentils.

    • step 3

      Bring to the boil, then lower the heat and simmer for 20-30 mins, until the lentils are cooked.

    • step 4

      Mash to the right constituency for your baby and serve with pitta bread strips.

    If your dhal looks too dry at any point, add more water.
