He has since posted a pic of the little feet of new baby Piper-Fox on his Twitter page.

As if that was not enough, Laurence then posted a song on Soundcloud yesterday, which he dedicated "for my boys". The song Winston, which you can hear here, is named after the couple’s first son, but is a song celebrating new life. It starts with familiar thoughts of many working parents, "Too late to see you awake/As I get home to the place where you sleep/I long to see you awake as I open your door/See you’ve drifted away".

Laurence’s tweet suggests that this time round, his 29-year-old actress wife had an easier birth. Last time, Billie ended up had a difficult birth which ended with an emergency caesarean - although she later said she’d enjoyed the birth experience.

Billie’s second pregnancy hit the headlines when it was revealed that she had offered to withdraw from the West End play she was due to appear in, Reasons to be Pretty. However, director Michael Attenborough, decided to adjust the part to take in her pregnancy, and Billie was said to have wept on the director’s shoulder when she was told.

The couple have yet to announce the name of their new son but expect something on Twitter soon...
