Gisele Bundchen: “My painless birth”
Model reveals her easy labour, not needing a nanny and her weightless pregnancy gain!
If the gorgeous Brazilian supermodel is hoping to endear herself to fellow new mums, this probably isn’t the best way to do it – but Gisele Bundchen has revealed that her recent eight-hour birth “didn’t hurt in the slightest”.
The 29-year-old mum to four-month old Benjamin admitted that she received no pain relief and that she opted for a home birth. “My delivery was in a bath tub. I wanted to be very aware and present during the birth…I didn’t want to be drugged up,” she told TV channel Fantastico.
To prepare for her ‘painless’ birth, Gisele revealed that she did yoga and meditation, which resulted in her “very tranquil birth at home”. Using her well-trained concentration, the model focused on meeting her baby with each contraction and only had her husband Tom Brady’s hand for support. “It wasn’t like ‘this is so painful’. So I transformed that intense feeling into hope of seeing him,” she explained.
It seems that Gisele’s blissful and pain-free birth experience wasn’t just a lucky fluke, as she also revealed she only put on a small amount of weight during pregnancy. So little in fact that she didn’t need to buy maternity clothes! Unlike mum-to-be Sara Cox, who’s unhappy with her pregnancy weight gain 7 months in, Gisele took it all in her stride. “I kept myself in good shape during the whole pregnancy, eating healthily, meditating and doing exercise. I put on a little weight but kept the same clothes, with small adjustments on the stomach,” she told Folha de Sao Paulo magazine.
Despite returning to her day job a mere 6 weeks after giving birth, she’s currently coping without the help of a celeb nanny. “At the moment I have no nanny, but my mother stayed with me after Benjamin was born,” she admitted.
If you’re beginning to wonder if Gisele is a supernatural woman with magic powers that make her immune to the downsides of being a new mum, fear not as she has admitted one difficulty mums will identify with – lack of sleep! “I have not slept much. In these first months, the baby usually nurses every two or three hours. It is quite tiring, but it’s a special moment.”
