Grandma, 61, gives birth to her own grandson
Pensioner acts as a surrogate mum for her infertile daughter
An American grandma has given birth to her own grandson after her daughter asked her to act as a surrogate. Kristine Casey, 61, helped her 35-year-old daughter Sara after she discovered that she couldn’t have children of her own.
Despite Kristine being 10 years past menopause and had last given birth 30 years ago, she agreed to act as a surrogate because “I though I could choose to do this for someone I love.”
After hormone treatment to prepare her uterus for the pregnancy and two round of IVF, Kristine became pregnant. She gave birth to her grandson, Finnean Lee, by caesarean, making her daughter and her husband first time parents.
“It’s such a miracle,” Kristine’s daughter has said.
