Catherine Tyldesley gives birth to baby boy and reveals his good old English name
Corrie actress shows she's got a soft spot for popular old-fashioned names as she welcomes first born
Catherine Tyldesley has given birth to her first child, a baby boy. The Coronation Street actress announced the birth of her son on Twitter and shared his traditional, vintage-inspired name Alfie James Pitfield. Alfie is a shortened version of Alfred and is part of the on-going trend for old-fashioned English names.
"We made a wish and you came true. Welcome Alfie James Pitfield. We love you beyond words @TP_PTfitness #Besotted," the new mum tweeted on Wednesday. And the 31-year-old's fiancé Tom Pitfield was quick to tweet his own announcement about the birth. "Welcome to the world Son. Alfie James Pitfield. @Cath_Tyldesley you made the happiest man in the world. Thank you x," he tweeted.
Catherine is currently on 4 months' maternity leave from her role as barmaid Eva Price on the ITV soap. She announced her pregnancy in August last year after something of a whirlwind romance. She met personal trainer Tom in her local gym last year and after a bit of flirting on Twitter they got together – and Cath says she couldn't be happier.
"If you'd told me that before my next birthday I was going to meet someone as amazing as Tom, the person I want to spend the rest of my life with, and that we were going to be planning for our first baby, I would not have believed you in a million years… it's crazy," she said last year. "I feel strongly being a mother is something I am supposed to do."
Well then wishes really do come true. Congratulations both!
