Celebrity mums who take a healthy approach to losing baby weight
The latest celeb trend is taking your time with baby weight and embracing your post-baby body. Meet our favourite mums who keep it real…
Drew Barrymore
"I'm the last person anyone should look at for workout tips. I don't have them. I don't care," said new mum Drew Barrymore, when asked about losing weight. The actress and proud mum of 3-month-old Olive, also said, "My new motto is: Impossible expectations are impossible."
Just don't expect to see this yummy mummy flaunting her post-baby body; "I'm never going to have the kind of body that makes me excited about bikini season. I've never had a beach body."
Hilary Duff
"I think if you ask any pregnant mum, they're like 'I want my body back,' but it takes time," Hilary Duff told Us Weekly shortly after the birth of her 9-month-old son Luca. The 25-year-old actress took her time to lose the weight she gained while pregnant, eventually using a personal trainer to help her fit back into her old jeans.
Christina Aguilera
After son Max, now aged five, arrived, breastfeeding helped Christina Aguilera quickly shed all her baby weight.
Christina said at the time; "I think they say that when you're breastfeeding, your weight kind of slims down. It's a little easier. It's like a workout within itself. It's very tiring actually and you find yourself snacking more often."
Christina’s boyfriend Matthew Rutler adores her curves and body confidence. The singer said late last year; "As long as I'm happy in my own skin, that's all I need. And I'm happy with where I'm at. I have a boyfriend that loves my body. I love my body."
Reese Witherspoon
Late last year, Reese Witherspoon revealed how her life has changed since the arrival of baby number three 5-month-old Tennessee James.
“[Jim and I] are parents that know the joy of having a beautiful, brilliant, joyful, perfect baby,” said Reese, reported US Weekly.
The actress, who is often spotted going to the gym and doing outdoor activities with her family, lost her baby weight healthily and, more importantly, at her own pace.
Amy Adams
Actress Adam Adams, who gave birth to daughter Aviana in May 2010, said it was her little girl who helped her improve her own body image.
"I've been working out when I can... but losing weight is not my number one priority. Being pregnant finally helped me understand what my true relationship was with my body - meaning that it wasn't put on this earth to look good in a swimsuit. I was like, 'Look, I can carry a baby! I'm gaining weight right, everything is going well.' And I've had that relationship ever since."
Jessica Simpson
Following the birth of daughter Maxwell, Jessica Simpson took to Twitter to put to bed rumours that she was struggling to her shed baby weight.
The singer, who signed a contract with Weight Watchers to lose the extra pounds naturally, tweeted; “Just so everyone knows...Weight Watchers hasn't put ANY pressure on me.”
The happy mum, who is now pregnant with baby number two, added; “I'm trying to be as healthy as I can be for myself and I feel great.”
Christina Applegate
Almost two years after the birth of her baby girl Sadie, funny mum Christina Applegate revealed that she was stepping out of her maternity jeans.
“I just transitioned out of maternity jeans. I’m working on two years and I haven’t even lost all my weight,” the actress said during an appearance on The Talk, adding, “And those girls that do, they’re spending less time with their kids. I just wanted to hang out with my daughter 24 hours a day.”
While she may be back in her blue jeans don’t expect Christina, 40, to transition into a bikini model any time soon: “I will not be Tweeting photos of me in a bikini, let alone wear a bikini I think ever again in my life."
Anna Faris
Actress Anna Faris revealed her post-baby body secrets on the red carpet – just three months after giving birth to son Jack.
Speaking to E!, Anna shared how she shed her pregnancy pounds; "I think it's from hauling around the little guy."
The new mum said she wanted to "cherish" her time with her newborn and wasn't in a rush to lose her baby weight; "I'm trying to do it without help. So it's been a lot of lifting."
Husband and actor Chris Pratt is also a huge fan of her post-baby body, Anna revealed; "I have the sweetest husband. He makes me feel good at any weight. In fact, I kinda think that he likes it when my butt is a little bit bigger."
