Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin to ‘co-parent’ following split
Gwyneth and Chris have announced a ‘conscious uncoupling’ but what does that mean for their children Apple, 9, and Moses, 7?
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin have decided to ‘consciously uncouple and co-parent’.
That’s 'get a divorce and share custody of the children' to you and me.
But what are the megastar couple’s plans for their children Apple, 9, and 7-year-old Moses?
“We are, and always will be, a family," Chris and Gwyneth said in a statement published on Gwyneth's website goop, "and, in many ways, we are closer than we have ever been.
“We are parents first and foremost to two incredibly wonderful children, and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time.
"We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and co-parent, we will be able to continue in the same manner.”
Post-split holiday – together
So it seems the A-List couple will put their children first after ending their marriage of 10 years.
And, so far, the split does seem very amicable. The family are currently on holiday in Eleuthera in the Bahamas. Which may seem a strange thing for them to do when they’ve just announced their separation but actually the break will allow the kids to have time to adjust and avoid the tabloid fallout as the news hits headlines around the world.
Post-split home arrangements
So, where will Gwyneth, 41, and Chris, 37, live?
They relocated from London to Los Angeles last year but RadarOnline reported last month that Chris has been ‘miserable’ since the move.
“Chris has told Gwyneth he wants to move back to his native England with their two children, Apple and Moses, once the school year is over,” one source says.
Their main home is currently a ‘concept’ mansion in the upmarket Brentwood area of Los Angeles.
The children are enrolled at school in LA, so are likely stay there until at least the end of this school year. After that, the separated parents will need to make some tough decisions about who wants to remain in LA, who wants to move back to the UK – and how that will impact on their kids.
