Who is Paul Hollywood?

Paul Hollywood is a celebrity chef, originally from Wallesay, near Wirral in Merseyside.

He’s got cookbooks and baking guides coming out of his ears, and has had some success in the US as a judge on American Baking Competition in 2013.

Now, Paul’s probably best known in the UK as the host of Great British Bake Off.

He was the only judge to transition from the BBC version to Channel 4, when the show was sold in 2017. He’s joined by Sandi Toksvig, Noel Fielding and Prue Leith.

Paul and soon-to-be ex-wife Alexandra Hollywood welcomed their only child, Josh, in October 2001.

Josh’s life has mostly been kept out of the spotlight, unlike his dad’s, and he doesn’t appear to be on social media.

However, Paul has spoken about him a little in interviews and on his social media channels.

At age 11, he and Josh did a lot of cooking and baking together. He wrote in his Telegraph Weekend column:

“History is now repeating itself and at home I really enjoy baking with my 11-year-old son, Josh. We’ve just been making pizzas and chocolate roulade together.

“He wanted to put raspberries in it and I didn’t. I love they way you can load children with information when you are doing practical things with them.

“Their brains are just like sponges. Show them how and they pick it up so quickly. And very soon they’re telling you what to do.”

As Josh hit the ‘teen’ phase, dad Paul tweeted about a ‘staycation’ they took together in a motor home, and told Digital Spy about their father-son activities:

“I normally say to him, 'What do you want to do? Do you want to go-kart, do you want to go shopping, do you want to play on the Xbox, do you want to go kick a ball around?'

“And he's a teenager, so he'll normally go, 'I want to play on the Xbox'. But recently he said, 'Dad, I want to bake with you'. I got a bit emotional about it, if I'm honest.”

Hilariously, Paul even challenged his son’s cookery teacher when they called his baking skills into question, after he made a quiche for a class.

He told OK!: “Josh knows how to make a loaf of bread, which is much more complicated than whipping up a Victoria sponge.

“He made a quiche at school recently and his teacher gave him a 6 out of 10 for it, so I sent him into school the next day with a note that said, ‘How dare you give my son such a low mark. His quiche was worth at least a nine out of 10!’”

Josh will turn 17 in October 2018.

Is Paul Hollywood still married?

Paul’s still technically married to Josh’s mum, Alexandra Hollywood, but the couple are currently separated.

Paul and Alexandra married in 1998, after just a few weeks of knowing each other. They met in Cyprus, where he was working as head baker at a 5* hotel, and she was the scuba instructor.

After nearly 20 years of marriage, Paul announced their split in November 2017. The couple’s relationship first hit headlines and the rocks after it was revealed in May 2013 that Paul was having an affair with US TV chef Marcela Valladolid, his co-star on the American Baking Competition.

Since April 2018, Paul’s thought to be dating 23-year-old barmaid Summer Monteys-Fullam.
