Would you want your dilation details sent to a stranger?
Luckily, when a gran sent a wrong number text while her daughter-in-law was giving birth, it became a special part of the day
When your grandchild is about to come into the world, you want to let everyone know what's happening. And that's what Teresa Lashley did while her daughter-in-law was giving birth.
Except that she didn't just keep texting her friends and family, Teresa was also texting the info to a complete stranger. "She's dilated to between 5-6" she exclaimed, to the stranger.
"Congrats," the stranger texted back, "but I think someone got the wrong number."
But Teresa was too busy to notice and carried on texting. And when the baby was born, Teresa sent the stranger a pic of her proudly holding the newborn baby.
Only then did she realise her mistake. She'd texted an old number for a friend, and their number was now used by someone else. "Sorry you got caught up in the baby birthing!" she apologised to the stranger, Dennis Williams.
But by now Dennis was hooked. Wrong number just doesn't cut it, when you've almost been part of someone's birth. And so he asked which hospital the family were in.
And shortly after, Dennis and his brother Derrius showed up with gifts for the newborn.
Teresa then shared a photo of Dennis and Derrius with new parents Mark and Lindsey Lashley on Facebook to say thank you to the two brothers from Bainbridge in Georgia, USA.
She wrote: "I accidentally texted a message about Mark and Lindsey having a baby to a number I had for someone else, which now belongs to Mr Dennis Williams.
"He and his brother came by to visit us and brought the baby a gift! What a blessing these two guys were to our family.
"They were so sweet and kind to do this! You are two great guys and thank you for giving to someone you didn't know."
