There are certain myths that we'd like our kids to believe in for as long as possible. Father Christmas, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy – most of us are dreading the day our little ones work out the 'truth'.

Of course, some will never admit they know out loud, and we have no problem with giving adults presents from Father Christmas.

But, for one parent, not only did their 9-year-old daughter realise the whole thing wasn't quite what it appeared to be, but she went to great lengths writing a note to explain that she knows the truth.

"Found this on my daughter's pillow," the anonymous parent wrote, sharing it on Imgur.

Here's the note in full:

Dear "Tooth Fairy,"

I don't believe in the Tooth Fairy anymore. I know it's you who gets the money and puts it under my pillow, mom and dad. I'm sorry if this is hard for you, but I'm 9 now.

P.S. I don't believe in Santa Claus either.

Love, Lexi

P.S. Daddy, I knew it was you last Easter, hiding my Easter eggs!

We have to admit, it's very well written. Maybe they have a little wordsmith on their hands! Do your kids know the 'truth' about the tooth fairy? Let us know in the comments below.
