8-year-old dancers' video causes outrage
Shock as young girls perform Beyoncé's Single Ladies in sexy clothing
A group of 8 and 9 year old dancers have caused controversy in the States after their video was posted on YouTube.
The girls, dressed in black and red lace bra tops and hot pants, were performing Beyoncé's hit Single Ladies. They were taking part in the biggest US street dance talent show, The World of Dance.
While some have described the performance as provocative and inappropriate, the mother of one of the performing girls hotly defended the routine.
"I'm shocked, quite frankly, that people would suggest such things and say such things about 8 and 9 year old girls," Melissa Presch told US news show Inside Edition. She said the girls got their moves from Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel movie.
Representative of the The World of Dance, Larry Peters, says the controversy has been blown out of proportion. "I can tell you the cheering and screaming you heard on the video was from other parents and dance teams that were just blown away by their dance performance and precision. There was nothing provocative about what they were doing."
