Incredible Bratz doll make-unders reveal strong and mighty women
Malala, JK Rowling and Canada's first female astronaut are all here
'We must tell girls they are important' - Malala Yousafzai
Ever since artist Wendy Tsao saw Sonia Singh's made-under Tree Change dolls she felt drawn to do something similar, and has now produced her beautiful series of remade Bratz dolls – celebrating some of the most powerful and inspiring women in the world today.
Wendy takes so much care when 'making' each doll, all of which are pre-owned: cleaning their faces with soap and water to remove the Bratz-style make-up, and designing their outfits with lots of love and attention to detail.
One of the nicest bits of the process, she says, is that 'brushing their hair and dressing them in their new clothes brings back memories of forgotten childhood play".
The range includes a host of amazing women, including author JK Rowling, Jane Goodall – whose primatology work became famous following the movie Gorillas In The Mist – and, perhaps our favourite – Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai.

J K Rowling
'It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all, in which case you have failed by default.'
Roberta Bondar, first Canadian woman astronaut
'To fly in space is to see the reality of Earth, alone. The experience changed my life and my attitude toward life itself. I am one of the lucky ones.'
Waris Dirie, model, author, social activist
'If you can survive in the desert, you survive anywhere. I know more than anything life in desert. You can tell by looking at the dirt how long ago it rained, how hard it rained, how much water came through. You can (know) by looking at a plant, a tree, from an animal’s look. I can read the desert like I read my hand.'
Jane Goodall - British primatologist, UN Messenger of Peace
'I thought my life was mapped out. Research, living in the forest, teaching and writing. But in ’86 I went to a conference and realised the chimpanzees were disappearing. I had worldwide recognition and a gift of communication. I had to use them. '
