Billie Piper’s new theatre role changed after surprise pregnancy announcement
Billie Piper has unexpectedly announced she’s pregnant with her second child. But the news made actress fear for her job…
Billie, who is 15 weeks pregnant, is due to play the lead role in Neil LaBute’s latest play at the Almeida Theatre in November.
Billie, plays Carly in the production, Reasons To Be Pretty was reportedly very distressed when she broke the news to the team, fearing she would be replaced.
“She was upset and told me she way pregnant,” said the Almeida’s artistic chief, Michael Attenborough, reports The Mail.
However, she was Neil LaBute’s and my first choice for the part- and fortunately the character is pregnant. So with a bit of judicious re-writing we’re all delighted she’ll be with us.
“I told her that I’d love her to do it and she just wept on my shoulder,” added Michael.
Although expecting actresses including Amanda Holden have been known to continue performing on stage, it’s rare for a playwright as high profile as Neil to amend a script especially.
But hardworking Billie hasn’t let her pregnancy interfere with the job so far even managing to fit in a scan around her theatre schedule.
Looks like Billie has another reason to be pretty…
