Binky Felstead admits she was 'freaked out' to breastfeed in public
And what new mum can't understand her concerns?
In the latest episode of Binky Felstead's new reality show, Born in Chelsea, the new mum was seen taking her newborn daughter India out for the very first time ???
And she was not too proud to admit that it had been a frightening experience!
"My first outing with India on my own, and for all mothers, that's terrifying," she told This Morning after the fact.
One of the biggest fears she had around her first solo outing was one we're sure many new mums will share: breastfeeding in public.
While taking little India to the hair salon, Binky quickly realised she'd need to feed her little one - away from the comfort and privacy of her own home.
“Breastfeeding in public makes me uncomfortable,” she admitted to the cameras. “The thought of exposing myself kind of freaks me out.”
“I’m still new to this... I’m nervous doing it in front of people. But when more time goes on it’ll be like, whatever.
“I hope it gets easier and I just need to man up. But right now it just makes me feel a bit flustered.”
Of course, we're not happy that Binky felt uncomfortable, but we do have to confess it's quite reassuring to hear her admit it ?
Some mums just seem to take to breastfeeding in public like a duck to water, whereas others who want to give it a go just don't feel as sure of themselves straight away.
And in our book, that's totally OK?
Eventually, Binky managed to overcome her fear by using a cover during her salon trip, in order to help her get the job done.
"Breastfeeding in public is scary! It was very scary for me. Obviously, I'd never done it before," Binky later explained during her This Morning chat. "You have all these new emotions."
And of course, the new mum - who welcomed baby India with partner Josh 'JP' Patterson at the beginning of July - had the added pressure of being followed by a camera crew for her new TV series, which is chronicling her and JP's experiences as new parents.
Getting to grips with being a mum and having a TV crew following you around? We reckon that's pretty scary in itself...
Thanks for sharing, Binky ?
