How did Blake and Ryan meet?

Blake and Ryan first met as co-stars on the set of the ill-fated superhero movie The Green Lantern.

After filing for divorce from actress Scarlett Johansson in 2010, Ryan was once again single – as was Blake after splitting from Gossip Girl co-star Penn Badgley. So the friends decided to go on a double date in October 2011 – only with other people!

Ryan told Entertainment Weekly’s SiriusXM radio show:

"We were buddies then. I remember it was funny because for about a year after Green Lantern had come and gone and all that stuff, we were both single.

"We went on a double date. She was on a date with another guy and I was on a date with another girl.

"That was the most awkward date... probably because we were just like fireworks coming across," Ryan laughed. “It was weird at first but we were buddies for a long time. I think the best way to have a relationship is to start as friends."

In September 2012, Ryan and Blake shocked the world by marrying secretly at Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

According to People, their wedding location was featured in 2004’s weepy romance flick The Notebook (which stars another famous Ryan, Ryan Gosling).

In October 2014, Blake announced via her now-defunct GOOP-style lifestyle website Preserve that she was pregnant with her and Ryan’s 1st child.

While she was expecting her 1st child, Blake’s hair was a huge talking point.

Many speculated whether or not she’d stopped dying her long blonde locks after she was spotted sporting darker roots. As a result, it was speculated that Blake was shunning chemical hair products while she was pregnant.

And during pregnancy no 2, the internet was buzzing over how glossy and fabulous Blake’s hair was looking. But more on that later…

In December 2014, Blake and Ryan welcomed their 1st child.

The famously private couple didn’t release the news publicly, but reports in January 2015 confirmed that her baby had been born. It was unknown at the time what the sex of the baby was, or the name.

But we later learned that the couple had a girl, and picked the name James for their baby daughter – despite the fact initial reports suggested the name might be something floral.

James has traditionally been used as a boy's name, so we wonder if over the coming years, we’ll hear of more girls with the classic moniker.

While her glossy locks had everyone talking during pregnancy no 1 (and to be fair, pregnancy no 2), it seems that Blake’s killer taste in maternity clothes was also making waves the 2nd time around.

Her Cannes Film Festival looks – which she wore to promote her movie Café Society – caught fashion-lovers' eyes, and Blake transformed into a maternity style icon.

Ines Reynolds

On 30 September 2016, Blake gave birth to a 2nd baby, a little girl, who was later revealed to be named Ines Reynolds.

The couple were fiercely private about their children once again, but in October, Ryan (perhaps accidentally) revealed the baby’s sex with a sarcastic tweet.

On 15 December 2016, James and Ines were seen by the world for the very 1st time.

The celeb parents brought their 2 little ones along for the ride when dad Ryan was receiving a star on the Hollywood walk of fame.

James, dressed adorably in a space-themed bomber jacket, blue tights and grey converse, wandered off with dad’s mic a few times. The double of mum Blake, James was revealed to have curly light blonde hair.

Baby Ines was dressed in a grey baby grow, and was passed back and forth between mum and dad. Ryan said of the out-of-character public family outing:

“This is one of the rare occasions when we thought we've got to bring the whole clan. I’d regret it in 20 years if I didn’t.”

Baby number 3

Blake appeared in a figure-hugging yellow dress at a public event and so announced to the world that baby number 3 is on the way.
