Following the accident, 11-year-old Zumyah Thorpe fell into a coma and was not expected to survive. The crash had already killed her pregnant mother and 2 younger sisters.

As part of her recovery, nurses at the UH Babies & Children's Hospital played Bruno Mars songs to her every night, and doctors credit Bruno's music for bringing her out of the coma.

When the youngster miraculously woke up, "the first thing she does is sing the one Bruno song which is 'I'm Amazing' (Just The Way You Are)," her grandmother Ronda told WKYC.

"No one can really understand what we've gone through when you see a child that's in a coma and unable to walk, talk," Ronda continued.

Grammy winner Bruno Mars was so moved by the story that he arranged to meet Zumyah and her grandparents privately before his concert in Cleveland, Ohio.

Ronda told the local news channel that Bruno sang 4 songs in a special performance for the family and even dedicated a new song, called 'Zumyah's Day', to her. He gave her a teddy bear along with some other presents but he also gave her something money can't buy - a kiss on the cheek!

"A kiss... he gave me a kiss.... right here," exclaimed Zumyah to WKYC, as she pointed to her cheek.

The singer also shared a selfie on Instagram (above) and captioned the pic: 'Zumyah tonight you gave my band and I something we've never felt before. You're an inspiration to the world! #WeLoveYouZumyah'

During his concert, Bruno embraced her in the crowd and serenaded her with his hit 'Just The Way You Are'. Fans reportedly saw Bruno gift her his guitar and hat. Concert-goers said there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

"He says I've done the big shows, the Super Bowl…but there has not been one story that has touched his heart as this story has," Ronda added.

"He said it was very emotional for him and that he's just so thankful that we allowed him into our lives as well."
