Bugaboo issues urgent safety notice over product falling hazard
Parents urged to order a free safety repair kit after reports of screw loosening on it's popular highchair

Bugaboo has issued an urgent product safety notice for its Giraffe highchair, warning that a safety fault could pose a falling risk for babies and toddlers.
The safety notice applies to all Giraffe highchairs with baby sets purchased up until 8 April 2025.
The issue centres on the screws that connect the legs to the seat frame. If these screws weren’t fully tightened during assembly, they may become loose over time – particularly with daily use.

Bugaboo has said that when this happens, the highchair’s legs can detach from the frame, which could cause the seat to collapse.
The risk is especially high when a child seated in the baby seat pushes against the footrest.
In a statement, Bugaboo said: “To decrease the potential for incorrect installation of the screws, we have developed a free Repair Kit.”
The kit includes a redesigned set of screws, a newly improved Allen key to make installation easier, and a step-by-step instruction manual.
Parents are being urged to stop using the highchair until the repair kit has been installed – or to follow specific safety instructions if they must continue using it in the meantime.
To use the chair safely before the repair kit arrives, the footrest must be locked in its lowest position.
You can adjust it by pressing the two buttons located on either side of the footrest and sliding it down to the bottom setting.
The brand added: “The replacement is simple and can be done at home in just a few minutes.”

Bugaboo has stressed that safety is their top priority and is contacting affected customers directly.
To order the free repair kit, you’ll need the serial number, which can be found on a sticker underneath the seat.
Customers who bought their highchair from Boots, John Lewis, Amazon, Pramworld or Bugaboo directly are all eligible.
The safety notice comes as a surprise to many parents, given the highchair’s premium positioning and rave reviews.
The Bugaboo Giraffe – which starts from £205 – scored a glowing 4.8 out of 5 in our MadeForMums review, praised for its sleek design, comfort and ability to grow with your child.
If you own a Bugaboo Giraffe with a baby set and bought it before 8 April 2025, it’s vital to order your repair kit as soon as possible.
