“Car seat saved baby,” says TV’s Nick Knowles
TV presenter rescues baby and mum in car crash
Nick Knowles rescued a baby and her mum who were trapped inside an upturned car yesterday.
The TV presenter and host of DIY SOS was travelling to work when he noticed the car upside down in a field with Claire Williams and her eight-week-old daughter Alexandra still inside.
“When I heard the baby crying my blood ran cold,” said Nick, who managed to free the baby from the car with the help of another passing motorist.
The TV presenter said he believed the baby was saved by her child seat, in which she was fully strapped.
Nick also rescued mum Claire, who suffered minor injuries in the crash, and held baby Alexandra until paramedics arrived. “I just did what everyone else would do. I would hope anyone else would have done the same to help my loved ones.”
