Cat acted as midwife when owner went into labour
The pet cat who acted as four-legged midwife is up for award
A cat who acted as a ‘moggy midwife’ when his pregnant owner went into labour at home has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Cats Protection's Rescue Cat Awards 2010.
Marmite is in the final four of the Most Incredible Story category after staying by owner Lindsey Davies’ side when she started having contractions at home alone.
Cool cat Marmite stayed with Lindsey for two hours until her partner arrived home, keeping her relaxed and happy. Baby Ruby arrived safe and well, and now Marmite is just as protective of her as he is of mum Lindsey.
If Marmite wins his category, he could go on to win the prestigious Rescue Cat of the Year Award, a title that owner Lindsey says he's well worthy of.
“As the contractions got stronger, Marmite stayed with me as my very supportive birth partner until my partner arrived home. He rubbed up against me and purred affectionately which helped to distract me from the labour pains. When I brought Ruby home Marmite was thrilled to meet her. He really is a hero, one very special cat!”
We’re keeping our paws crossed for you, Marmite!
