Bringing this classic to a new generation of fans, Mowgli and co have been given a more hi-tech look, compared to the hand-drawn cartoons older generations will remember. “The world of the jungle is looking glorious in the series and will reintroduce this brand to a generation who might not know this fabulous story,” Steven Andrew, head of CBBC has said.

Billed as the ‘action adventure comedy for 21st century children’, the show is already hugely popular in France, Australia and Germany. Production company DQ Entertainment created the new animated series in India, which is the same place the author of the book, Rudyard Kipling, was born.

“We are thrilled that Mowgli and all these much-loved characters will be returning to the UK screens. Considerable time and effort has been given to produce an animation series worthy of the rich heritage The Jungle Book represents,” Tapaas Chakravarti, from DQ Entertainment, has said.

Rudyard Kipling first published the The Jungle Book in 1894, then in 1942 it was made into a film. However, the story is best remembered through the 1967 Disney version.
