Questions about whether or not you're going to have a baby soon can feel a bit intrusive, even if they're well-meaning.

So no wonder Christine Lampard (nee Bleakley) felt the need to bring it up when she was on Loose Women this week.

The 37-year-old TV presenter married footballer Frank last year. He already has 2 daughters, Luna, 11, and Isla, 9, with his former partner Elen Rivas.

And if their pics on Instagram are anything to go by, they are all pretty close, with Christine an important fixture in Frank's girls' lives.

So why all the pressure about having kids of their own?

"Oddly enough at 37, if you don’t have babies, it’s all I get asked," Christine told Loose Women.

"Firstly it’s: “Oh you’re 37! No babies yet?” That’s a really big question. It doesn’t bother me really but it’s something I would never ask another girl."

Christine then explained why she wouldn't ask the question herself:

"Purely because I have so many friends who have been through terrible struggles to have little babies and you just don’t know what’s going on behind closed doors and what’s going on in other people’s lives."

We can definitely understand this - people often aren't asking to be malicious, but it is true that sometimes, you just don't know what struggles people have been through, do you?

"It's a question I would never ask anyone but I get asked it loads," she concluded.

Christine also opened up about her relationship with Luna and Isla, saying that she has taken on a 'big sister' role to the girls - but has previously said she didn't rush in to meeting them or being a part of their lives when she and Frank first got together, saying that it was a "well thought out process" and that she "didn't meet them for a year" on purpose.

"Being a stepparent, oddly enough I've always taken the role of a big sister. They've got a mummy and daddy and I'm not there to do that, so I'm there as a bit of a big sister," she told the show. "But they look at me as being the naughty one, so it's quite a nice relationship actually."

And she said that she thinks that generally, as a family they have a "good set up".

"They love the idea that they can say 'Christine, what do you think of this?' - it's almost like whispered behind daddy's back."

Ha! And we bet they ALL have Frank wrapped around their little fingers.

Have your say

What do you think about Christine's comments though - have you ever felt that all people want to ask you about is babies, be that because you're a newlywed, or entering your late 30s?

Or do you think it's actually fine for people to be interested, and it's a perfectly acceptable question to ask?
