Dad who built AMAZING kitchen set for his son hits back at the haters
Since when was cooking just for girls anyway?
Here at MFM we're super impressed with anyone that can manage a spot of DIY – and this totally awesome kitchen set made by a dad in Iowa for his 2-year-old son – is one of the best examples we've seen.
Reddit user SixStringHook put photos of the set on Imgur (scroll for more pics below), showing what started as an entertainment unit from a charity shop lovingly turned into a stunning play kitchen complete with cool features like light – up hob rings and a cottage style mint-green finish.
What he may not have been expecting were the negative comments about a kitchen being a 'girl's toy'. One person said: 'Seems a little gay to me.'
Another said: 'You should rename your son Caitlyn' - a reference to transgender celebrity Caitlyn Jenner.
Hitting back at the comments, this DIY decided to tell them what he thought:
"Anytime [my wife and I] go to our local science center, or to the children’s museum, [our son] always wants to play in the kitchen playset area. He always wants to watch us cook and likes being involved, so we thought this would be a good idea.
"Furthermore, if my kid wanted a Barbie doll I would get it for him. If that is what he wants, then that is what he wants. It’s his decision what he wants to play with. Not mine.”
