Dame Helen Mirren defends her choice not to have children
The 66-year-old actress reveals why she never wanted a baby - because the world is already over-populated
Dame Helen Mirren, who is married to director Taylor Hackford, has revealed that she doesn't regret not having children.
"It's not that I don't love children, they are funny and I just love them, but I never wanted to have them. I really tried to want it at one point. I thought maybe I should but I never convinced myself," admitted Dame Helen.
"I think some men and women just don't have a deep urge to procreate," added the actress from movie The Debt, reports Showbiz Spy.
While it's true that not everyone has a maternal urge, Dame Helen's reasons for not wanting a baby are apparently because of the world's population problems!
"There are far too many people in the world. It's my contribution to ecology," Dame Helen said.
Fellow celebrity, Delia Smith, once said that her decision not to have a family actually made her career more successful, saying that women "couldn't have it all".
