I wish I’d known this one thing before getting a double buggy
This stylish, easy-to-push double stroller comes at a great price—but is it practical for everyday life? Here’s my honest experience.

When my Ickle Bubba Venus Prime Double stroller arrived, I was surprised by how compact the box was for a double buggy that came with so many accessories.
Once unpacked, I was impressed—stylish, well-made, and packed with practical features.
Folding it was simple, using two buttons on the handlebar, but it took me a couple of tries to master the unfolding.
The frame is slightly heavy to lift, but once up, the buggy feels surprisingly light to push.
I quickly discovered one major issue—I hadn’t checked the width of my front door before ordering. At 74.5cm wide, the Venus Prime was just a centimetre too wide to fit through without folding.
This meant I had to strap my two children (a toddler and a newborn) in outside—not ideal in the winter chill. If you’re considering this buggy, measure your doors first!
Both my toddler and newborn were comfortable in the stroller. The lie-flat newborn cocoon (included in the bundle) was soft and breathable, though quite narrow—chunkier babies might outgrow it quickly.

My toddler loved the removable bumper bar and adjustable recline, perfect for naps on the go. The independent hoods with UPF 50+ were another plus, offering good sun protection.
Despite feeling heavy when folded, the Venus Prime was a dream to push. It handled pavements, cobbles, and even muddy paths well, thanks to 360-degree front wheels and good suspension.
I only noticed the weight when tipping it up kerbs. Public transport and tight spaces were trickier, but that’s the case with most side-by-side doubles.
The storage basket is huge, easily fitting my changing bag and some shopping. The stroller folds down flat and compact, standing upright when folded.
However, I had to remove the front wheels to fit it in my car boot (a Ford Focus), so check your boot space if you’re planning to transport it often.

For £399 including all accessories, this stroller is incredible value compared to pricier double buggies. It’s stylish, sturdy, and easy to push, but its width could be a dealbreaker if you need to navigate tight spaces regularly.
If your doorways, boot, and local shops can accommodate it, this is a fantastic choice for growing families.
The Ickle Bubba Venus Prime is available at Ickle Bubba, Boots and Very.
