Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling reveal Disney-inspired baby name
Have the Hollywood A-lister new parents been inspired by The Hunchback of Notre Dame?
Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling have, apparently, given their daughter a Disney-inspired name. The couple, who had their baby girl on September 12, have named her Esmeralda Amada Gosling, according to TMZ.
Well, Esmeralda, the name of the star of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, might not have the same recognisability factor as other Disney heroines such as Belle, Cinderella or Jasmine, but, we have to say, it still has the ring of a princess about it.
In the 1996 Disney film, Esmeralda is a gypsy dancer who befriends the hunchback hero Quasimodo.
But the name is also the Spanish word for ‘emerald’, so it could be a nod to Eva’s Cuban heritage – and perhaps Esmeralda has green eyes?
Her second name Amada is a Spanish variant of Amanda that means ‘loveable’.
Amada was also the name of Eva’s character in her 2007 film, We Own The Night.
Both Ryan, 33, and 40-year-old Eva haven’t been spotted out in public since the birth, so we’ll have to wait to find out what the names mean to them.
