How did Fearne Cotton meet Jesse Wood?
In 2011, radio and TV presenter Fearne met Jesse (son of Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood) in a club in Ibiza while she was partying with friends.
As he told the Standard in 2016: “She was on holiday with friends and I was on holiday with a friend and we met at a nightclub. It was wonderful. Love at first sight. That sounds really corny but it was beautiful.
“I didn’t really know much about her. I just thought she was absolutely beautiful. I was sitting at a table and I looked up and she was right in front of me.”
Fearne’s also told her side of the story in a chat with Cosmo: "Jesse and I met through a friend in a restaurant in Ibiza and we just clicked...
“I don't think there's anything you can really pinpoint when it happens like that. I'd been in love before, but this was different. He makes me laugh, and he balances me out.
"He makes me laugh all the time and he's so chilled out. He's been to hell and back in certain ways, so nothing fazes him; he takes it all with a pinch of salt."
Fearne’s 1st pregnancy
Fearne’s pregnancy was announced in 2012 – and though she’d been spending time with Jesse’s older children, Arthur and Lola, during her pregnancy, she was still daunted by becoming a mum herself.
“When I had my son Rex 2 years ago, I don’t think I was expecting anything to change,” she told the Express long after his birth.
“I was a step-parent before I was a parent, so I had a flavour of what it would be like, but I remember laying in bed when I was pregnant with all my cats around me, thinking, ‘Am I really going to love a baby as much as I love my animals?’
"Then the baby comes along and I’ve not even looked at my cats since. The love that you feel is off the scale.”
Rex Rayne Wood
On 21 February 2013, Fearne gave birth to her 1st child, a baby boy named Rex Rayne Wood.
"Jesse and I are over-the-moon to announce the arrival of Rex Rayne Wood born on the 21.2.13," she wrote on Twitter.
She later revealed the name Rex was inspired by the book The Poison Tree, which she read during her pregnancy – apparently, it was the only name she and Jesse could agree on.
In the love bubble that is new motherhood, Fearne admitted to us she made a fair few newborn shopping mistakes with Rex.
In August 2017, Fearne opened up to us about her “overwhelming” fears for Rex’s first day at school. Awww.
But it seems Rex might have a bright future ahead as a photographer – as he did a great job snapping pics of his mum’s very rare girls’ night out.
Fearne Cotton and Jesse Wood’s wedding
On 4 July 2014, Fearne and Jesse married at Richmond Registry Office in South West London.
Fearne’s custom Pucci dress was classic and floaty, bar the glittering off-the-shoulder neckline, and Jesse wore a cool grey suit (and sunglasses).
We also know that Fearne took Jesse’s name, so in non-professional contexts she’s known as Fearne Wood.
"I can't wait to be a wife," she told Hello. "It just feels really solid. I want to have the same surname. I want to feel like we've done it properly."
She also confirmed her new surname on Twitter shortly after the wedding.
Fearne becomes a stepmum
Not only was Fearne now a wife and a mother, she was also officially ‘step-mum’ to Jesse’s older kids from his previous marriage to Tilly Wood: Arthur and Lola.
She told This Morning of her responsibilities: “I've got 2 step-children. I was 29 when I met my husband - it was quite an induction to being a proper parent. Rex adores and idolises them."
She also added to the Express: “At first, I think every step-parent will feel similar in that it’s a bit of a novelty and you’re excited that there are these kids who like hanging out with you and you get to go on family days out, which you don’t normally do.
"Then you get to that bit where you say to yourself, ‘Everything I do and say they could pick up on.’ I do sometimes swear and Lola will go, ‘Fearne!’ You forget, you know.
"And they’re picking it all up. It’s a great responsibility because it’s not just everything you say but how you act.
"They’re working out how you should be socially, how you should conduct yourself at home, how you should go to work, all by osmosis. I think that cannot be underestimated.”
Fearne’s 2nd pregnancy
Here’s Fearne at 9 months pregnant – on the day she gave birth, to be exact!
She shared the stunning bumpdate on Instagram as a throwback, with the caption: “One year ago today,” she wrote on her daughter’s 1st birthday.
“Moments away from meeting my ginger babe. Happy birthday for tomorrow Honey Krissy. I can't believe it's been one whole year! ❤️❤️❤️❤️”
Honey Krissy Wood
On 9 September 2015, Fearne and Jesse welcomed their 2nd child, a baby girl named Honey Krissy Wood.
No doubt Honey’s middle name pays tribute to Jesse’s late mum Krissy Findlay, who passed away in 2005.
It seems Fearne had her desired birth experience 2nd time around, having had a pain relief-free hypnobirth.
"Having a natural pain relief-free birth was the most intense and euphoric experience ever… I just feel grateful I had a positive experience.”
Fearne told MFM exclusively that, as a baby, she and Jesse used controlled crying to get Honey off to sleep.
Generally, Fearne’s not too keen on posting pics of her tots on social media – as is her right – but we do know that little Honey’s got a shock of bright red hair!
We also have to crack up at one story Fearne shared about Honey, though. Aged 2, she let off a timely and loud pump in the middle of older bro Rex’s school play ?
