Fijit tipped to be top toy for Christmas 2011
Tesco puts squishy robot top of its most-wanted list for Christmas
Fijit, a squishy interactive robot, is tipped to be this year’s top toy. Tesco has predicted that the Teletubby-esque plastic robots will be their bestseller come Christmas.
The Fijits can respond to basic commands, tell knock-knock jokes, laugh when you tickle them, go to sleep and even snore. Creators Mattell are hoping every girl will want a Fijit best friend and boys will love connecting the toy up to their (or their parents) iPhones.
June seems a little early to be planning for Christmas, but Tesco’s toy buyers have already predicted the toys that will tickle kids this year, and put in their stock orders already.
"Fijit is going to be this year’s must-have gadget,” predicts John Stanhope, Tesco’s senior buying manager. “Children across the nation will want to enjoy all the fun of interacting with these cute and cuddly creatures, which can even react to programmes on television as well as spoken commands.”
And while the Fijit has taken the top spot, here’s what else Tesco think Father Christmas will be getting requests for:
- Fijit
- Kidizoom Twist Camera
- Barbie Doggie Water Park
- Transformers 3 Optimus Prime
- Baby Annabel
- Bob The Builder Construction Tower
- Lego City Police Station
- Bopit XT
- Nerf N Strike Night Finder
- Monopoly Banking Ends
