Has Russell Brand and Laura Gallacher's baby name choice been revealed?
According to numerous reports, this 1880's name is what Russell and fiance Laura have named their newborn baby...
Russell Brand is officially a dad!
The Get Him To The Greek actor and his fiancé Laura Gallacher welcomed their 1st child last week.
Russell himself confirmed his dad status at a recent comedy show – according to one attendee.
Show-goer Daniel Crann told the Mirror Online: "[Russell] was conscious of the clock and made sure he was off stage by just approaching 9pm as he 'needed to get down the f***ing M21 as my girlfriend has just had a baby'."
Now, numerous outlets report that their newborn is a baby girl… and is called Mabel!
Laura’s sister, TV presenter Kirsty Gallacher, seemingly confirmed the baby’s sex in a tweet saying she was yet to meet ‘her’.
“Thanks for messages, proud to be an auntie for first time... well done to @DaisyPoppets & @rustyrockets. Sadly can't meet her 'til am well ” she wrote.
As for the name, the new parents have yet to share it - but let’s state for the record, if Mabel is her name, we totally ? it.
It’s definitely a classic choice that’s springing back in to popularity – as Nameberry reveals it was actually one of the 20 girls’ names of the 1880’s and 1890’s, and has come back into fashion over the last few years.
The meaning of Mabel is classic, too – it simply means “loveable”.
Mabel is a lovely name… but this is certainly a different tune to the jokey one Russell played during a recent interview with Jonathan Ross, where he claimed in jest that he was going to name his baby ‘Jesus Three’.
In this same interview, the 41-year-old star also talked about his thoughts on finding out the baby’s sex. He revealed he and Laura had chosen not to find out, and that he “may not even impose a gender“ upon his child.
Very interesting, indeed. Congrats to the happy couple ?
