Call The Midwife's Helen George claps back to cruel pregnancy weight comments
The 'Call The Midwife' star replied: "You should look on pregnant ladies’ multiple chins with love, they are busy making the future..."
Internet trolls: you’re not supposed to feed them, but maaan they don’t make it easy to stay quiet. Especially when it comes to all things parenting, and now, it would seem, the way pregnant bodies look, too.
New mum and Call The Midwife actress Helen George is the latest target – as she was pregnant during the filming of the most recent season, and, naturally, looks a little different than she did in the last.
One such troll tweeted, during the latest ep of the hit show: “Helen George is massive. She should be put on a diet. #callthemidwife”
Even after a fan pointed out that she’s pregnant in the most recent episode, the troll continued:
“Mmm, obviously used it as an excuse to gain all them chins. #callthemidwife”
????
33-year-old Helen, who gave birth to daughter Wren in late 2017, didn’t let the cruel comment lie, and clapped back in the best way possible:
“Sorry if my chins offended you,” she began. “I chose to feed my baby healthily and not starve myself in a selfish act to look good on TV.
“Would you say this to a pregnant lady’s face? You should look on pregnant ladies’ multiple chins with love, they are busy making the future x”
?????
“Nicely put, although he doesn’t deserve your time beautiful lady xx” one fan quickly replied.
But Helen was keen to explain to her fan why she DID feel the need to ‘feed the troll’, so to speak:
“Oh I know lovely, but so many comments like that come my way so boring.
“It’s about a feeling toward pregnant women, that we should all stay skinny xxx”
Firstly, we reckon that Helen looks gorge (and petite) literally every time we see her – pregnant, not pregnant, on TV, in her Insta pics. So, someone might wanna pay for this troll to get his eyes checked ?
But most importantly, she’s got a damn good point about eating right for your unborn little one.
It’s hard not to worry about your figure during pregnancy – and comments like these make it rather apparent why. But eating right, eating enough, that’s the main thing ?
We’ve definitely sensed that ‘feeling’ too, even though ‘skinny’ and ‘pregnancy’ don’t always mix, especially since, you know, we’ve got that whole big-bump-sticking-out-of-our-bodies thing going on.
Our view? The world needs to give that ‘feeling’ a rest and just accept that sometimes, pregnant women gain a few lbs, carry a bit of water weight, have swollen ankles, puffier faces and yes, maybe even a little extra chin!
And finally, we’re LOVING that Strictly dancer and fellow mum Kristina Rhianoff felt inspired to snap back at Helen’s troll, too, writing:
“You are a pr*ck. She will lose her baby weight at some point, but you always will be a pr*ck!!!”
That about covers it ????
