Holly Willoughby cries as she goes on maternity leave
This Morning presenter leaves show ahead of the birth of her third baby
Holly Willoughby always said she’d ‘keep working’ until she goes into labour.
But the This Morning presenter has at last bid a teary farewell to viewers and handed the reigns over to Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden as she starts her maternity leave.
Before saying her goodbyes, Phillip Schofield and the rest of the This Morning team showed Holly a compilation of her best moments before presenting her with a bouquet of flowers and a cake - prompting more tissue action.
"I won’t be gone forever," she said. "Just for a bit."
The 33-year-old then told Amanda: "Look after my Phillip."
The teary-eyed presenter is already mum to Harry, 4, and 2-year-old Belle and is expecting her 3rd child with husband Dan Baldwin.
After the show, Holly took to Twitter for her final goodbye.
"That's me done, thanks for all your beautiful messages," she tweeted.
"Feeling very emotional...just looking forward to being a mummy again....big love."
Holly's no doubt hoping for an easier birth experience than she had with Belle. Her long labour (50 hours from the time she went into hospital with early signs) was followed on Twitter by a nervous Phillip Schofield.
