'I was an emotional mess' - Tess Holliday reflects on her struggles as a new mum
Known for her honest posts, Tess has shared on Instagram how she was 'struggling to find my way as a new mum' in the early weeks after her baby Bowie was born
The first weeks and months of new motherhood can be a huuuuge challenge.
And model/mum-of-2 Tess Holliday is looking back on that time in her life in a super honest throwback Instagram post.
In the sweet photo, which shows her breastfeeding then 3-month-old son Bowie Juniper, Tess looks content - but in the caption she revealed that all is not as it seems.
"It's not #tbt technically, but I found this photo on my phone now from September of last year & it gave me so many feels," she began.
"This photo was taken at my dear friends @honeywoodvintage @charlieoverbey home during a dark time in my life.
"I was an emotional mess + struggling to find my way as a new mom again.
"When I looked at this photo a wave of sadness poured over me, but now I only see my tiny bubs nursing & Sweetie [her dog] looking on like a nervous new mom ?
"Life is messy, love is complicated, & it can all feel so overwhelming but we grow & learn. I'm so grateful for my life & appreciate it all, even if I can't always see the light at the end... it's there.
"Promise ???✨?#momofboys #motherhoodrising #normalizebreastfeeding”

Sometimes, it’s hard to admit that we’re struggling to ourselves, let alone to other people. And, quite movingly, we think, Tess has chosen to share her struggle in a public arena.
Even though she’s done the new mum thing once before, her first son is now 11 and adapting a second or third time round to another change of circumstance can be totally overwhelming emotionally.
Little Bowie Juniper is 10 months old now, and as Tess explained in her post, she’s starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Glad to hear it, too ?
