The odds of giving birth to your baby en caul (inside the amniotic sac) are said to be 1 in 80,000.

So we can’t imagine what the odds were for this mum’s birth story to actually happen. 1 in a million?

In May 2017, pregnant mum Raelin Scurry was 29 weeks along, and experiencing what she thought was Braxton Hicks contractions.

After 45 minutes and no sign of them going away, she and her partner drove towards the hospital in order to check everything was OK.

But, as the contractions became more intense and the gaps between them got shorter, she knew it was time to push.

“I called 911 because I was so scared,” Raelin explained in an Instagram caption.

“They couldn't understand me between the screams with contractions, so I handed the phone to my fiancé.

“I pulled my pants off and reached down, sure enough his head was right there.

“I pushed one time and my miracle baby was here. When I looked down I realised he was still completely wrapped in the amniotic sac.”

The 911 operator told Raelin and her partner to pull over, but she says she knew they’d get to the hospital faster by driving themselves, rather than waiting for an ambulance.

“So I told Ean to keep driving. I was so scared. My fiance was so calm driving and on the phone with 911,” she continued on Instagram.

“At first the baby was still and all I could do was pray he would be okay. And then I rubbed his face with my thumb and he pulled his little hands and feet up to his face as if he understood my prayers and wanted to reassure us he was okay.

“About 7 minutes passed that I held this miracle baby in my hands until we made it to the hospital.”

Luckily, mum said her newborn son was doing “wonderful” all things considered, but baby Ean Jamal Vanstory Jr. was born weighing just 3lb 1oz.

And in her latest Instagram update, she revealed that little EJ had put on just over 1lb, now weighing 4lb 3.8oz.

Well, we don’t want to throw around the world “miracle” lightly, but we definitely think it applies to this very eventful birth story – don’t you?

Totally amazing, and we really hope that tiny EJ’s well enough to head home soon ?
