Prince William sent the rumour mill into overdrive when he suggested that there could be a sibling on the way for 8-month-old Prince George.

The Duke of Cambridge dropped the hint in Sydney, when he was chatting to Cynthia Read, who had made a wool shawl for the young Prince.

Wills commented “You might have to make another one soon!” Mrs Read, 61, was commissioned to make the shawl as a gift from the New Zealand government, and said of the Duke’s comment: “The way William said it was like he was dropping a hint, letting me in on a secret.”

Here at MFM, we’re not convinced that another mini-royal is on the way just yet. Only last month, the Duke dispelled speculation that he and Kate were already planning another baby when he said: “Maybe one day – one’s enough at the moment.’’

Indeed Kate was photographed this weekend sampling red wine at Amisfield Vineyard in New Zealand. Whether Kate actually drank the wine, or was simply trying to put an end to the pregnancy rumours remains to be seen.

While we’d love to welcome another royal baby it looks like we may have a bit of a wait on our hands yet.
