It's a girl! Samantha Cameron gives birth to daughter
The Prime Minister's wife welcomed a baby girl this afternoon and they are doing "very well"
Samantha and David Cameron became parents for the fourth time this afternoon after welcoming a baby daughter named Florence Rose Endellion - proving David's earlier predictions that his wife was having a boy wrong!
Arriving a month early, Florence made her appearance whilst the Cameron family were on their annual 'Staycation' holiday in Cornwall. The new addition to the family joins big sister Nancy Gwen, 6, and brother Arthur Elwen, 4. The couple's eldest son Ivan passed away last year, aged 6.
"The Prime Minister and Mrs Cameron are delighted to announce the birth of their fourth child, a baby girl," a Downing Street spokesman said. "Both the baby - who was born weighing 6lb 1oz - and Mrs Cameron are doing well."
The PM also wanted to thank the maternity staff at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, who helped deliver his baby daughter. "They would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the hospital for their help and kindness."
Congratulations!
