Hollyoaks is set to screen shocking scenes that eerily echoes the murder of two-year-old James Bulger. It is revealed that two characters will be exposed as living under false names after killing a child when they were younger.

The soap has come under fire as its Christmas plot is being filmed in Merseyside where James was abducted and murdered by 10-year-olds Robert Thompson and Jon Venables, whom are now out of prison and living with false identities.

“They have clearly based this story on what happened to James, and it is outrageous they should do this without consulting me in any way. I am shocked and disgusted,” mum of James, Denise Furgus said.

The people behind the soap have defended the storyline and insist that it’s not based on any real life case. “The storyline focuses on the psychological repercussions for two characters in the show who were responsible for the death of a 12-year-old girl in the past,” a spokesman for Hollyoaks has said.

This is the third time this year that the James Bulger horrific story has been made into a programme on TV. “It’s a horrible insult to the memory of my beautiful son,” said Denise.
