Coronation Street's Katy Armstrong gives birth for real while playing Mary on stage
Coronation Street is set for a special nativity this year with an unexpected birth, a luckless dad and a hands-on delivery. We’ve heard that Katy Armstrong, played by Georgia May Foote, 20, is set to give birth while playing Mary in Coronation Street’s festive nativity.
Katy’s Oscar-worthy reenactment of the birth of Jesus is a little more realistic than the Weatherfield locals bargained for. The 17 year old gives birth to her son with Chesney Brown, played by Sam Ashton, 18, live on stage. We wonder what old Norris will have to say about that!
The young mum, who welcomes the aptly named Joseph Peter, almost has to go it alone when Chesney gets stuck at the garden centre where he’s working as an elf. But luckily, Anna Windass is there to give a helping hand and delivers the Christmas baby. At least the manger gets some proper use!
Georgia, who has been preparing for the scene by googling birth scenes on the internet, told The Sunday People newspaper she was thankful she wasn’t doing it for real.
