Kensington Palace has confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting another baby - a sibling for Prince George who turned one in July.

'Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their second child,' the statement announced.

However, palace officials went on to reveal that Kate is once again suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum - the severe morning sickness which blighted her pregnancy with baby George. As a result, Kate will not be accompanying William on an engagement in Oxford today, and her planned visit to Malta later in the month is in doubt.

The Queen and members of both families are said to be 'delighted with the news' while the Prime Minister, David Cameron, tweeted his congratulations, saying he was 'delighted by the happy news that they're expecting another baby'.

It is thought that Kate will still attend the opening of Prince Harry's Invictus Games in London on Wednesday.

What lovely news!
