Jett Riviera was born last week weighing 5lbs2oz.

The former model was 31 weeks pregnant when her waters broke while she was on holiday abroad. She was rushed to a hospital where staff “spoke only broken English", she told The Sun.

She managed to hold on for one week, but after she developed a potentially life threatening infection, she had a caesarean section at 32 weeks pregnant.

Katie told the Sun on Sunday that she was in a state and “crying my eyes out”.

This is the 35-year-old's fourth child, and first with husband Kieran Hayler, 25.

She said: “Bringing life into the world is supposed to be magical. But what I went through was a nightmare.”

She felt “crushed” when her baby was taken away from her after he was delivered via caesarean. “It felt so unfair because Kieran and I didn't get that moment couples should share. But more importantly I didn't even know what my baby weighed or if he was OK.

“I wanted to be near my baby. The only thing that got me through the nightmare was the thought of cradling my little boy.”

The newspaper said it could be three weeks before Jett is allowed to go home from hospital.

Katie talked in the past about how this was her most difficult pregnancy yet.
