Kerry Katona's family wedding pics – and why Katie Price pulled out of being bridesmaid
Kerry puts her children centre-stage at her wedding to George Kay - and reveals a change of heart about baby no 6
At last! Kerry Katona has released the pics of her wedding last weekend – and revealed the truth behind the rumours about the reason her mate Katie Price pulled out of being her bridesmaid.
The Atomic Kitten singer married George Kay in a romantic Gloucestershire ceremony, surrounded by her 5 children. Her 6-year-old son Max, from her previous relationship with ex-husband Mark Croft, was the couple’s pageboy and wore a smart navy blue suit to walk down the aisle.
His big sister Heidi, 7, was flower girl in a sweet white dress and tiara. Kerry and George's baby daughter Dylan-Jorge, 5 months, wore a frilly white dress and watched the ceremony from her pram. And Kerry’s eldest children Molly, 14, and Lilly, 11, from her relationship with first husband Brian McFadden, were bridesmaids in matching dark grey dresses.
But Katie Price didn't join Molly and Lilly as a bridesmaid, as long planned – because she didn’t feel 'comfortable' wearing Kerry's chosen bridesmaid's dress just 7 weeks after giving birth.
Countering rumours that she and Katie had had a dramatic eve-of-wedding fallout, Kerry's said she didn’t mind that Katie didn’t perform her bridesmaid duties, and that she'd known all about it well before the wedding day.
"She told me the week before that she didn't feel comfortable wearing the dress," Kerry, 34, has told OK! magazine. "I'm not going to put pressure on someone who has just had a baby to wear something they really don't want to wear. So I said to her, 'Don't worry; bring your own clothes and just come and enjoy yourself.'
"She was so upset about it because she's such a loyal friend, and she didn't want to feel like she'd let me down or upset me, so I said to her, 'I know how you feel, I'm exactly the same.'"
So, instead of a bridesmaid's dress, Katie wore a loose-fitting animal-print jumpsuit to her friend’s wedding.
"She had her two babies with her," said Kerry, "so her hands were completely full. But she had a lovely time and it was just great seeing her."
And what of Kerry's own baby plans? She had previously insisted that she’d try for baby no 6 on her honeymoon. But, since the wedding, it seems she’s had a change of heart.
Just before the newlyweds jetted off to the Caribbean for a 10-day honeymoon, Kerry revealed that babymaking is no longer on the agenda.
"We've talked about this and we decided," Kerry said. "Not this year. We both want to enjoy DJ. She is absolutely amazing – and I want to give my body a break."
