Kim Kardashian may have been suffering from pre-eclampsia
High blood pressure and swollen ankles are symptoms of the condition that she may have had
Kim’s early labour may have been down to her suffering from pre-eclampsia, a dangerous condition that is more likely in first time pregnancies.
Her daughter North West, nicknamed Nori, was born in Kim’s 37th week of pregnancy on June 14 due to complications with her pregnancy, according to People Magazine.
She had been photographed before the birth with swollen ankles, which is a symptom of pre-eclampsia.
The condition is caused by a defect in the placenta, the source of the baby’s oxygen and nutrients. It occurs from any time after 20 weeks of pregnancy until a few days after delivery.
It can cause your blood pressure to rise and protein to leak into your urine. It can also cause a lot of swelling in your hands, feet and face. Undetected, it can lead to a serious condition.
It hasn’t been confirmed yet whether Kim was suffering from pre-eclampsia.
