Lady Gaga fights Moshi Monsters over Lady Goo Goo
Singer wins court battle to stop children’s website releasing a single by Lady Goo Goo
Lady Gaga, mum of millions of Little Monsters, has beaten the mighty Moshi Monsters in a High Court battle.
Performer Lady Gaga has managed to gag one of the most successful children’s websites, which she believed was confusing children with its Lady Goo Goo cartoon character.
Gaga was reportedly furious that the Moshi character Lady Goo Goo was about to release a single called Moshi Dance. In the song, Lady Goo Goo sings the chorus, “Oh Woah Woah, Sha la la la la, let’s do the Moshi Dance!”
Her lawyers claimed that children would not be able to tell the difference between Gaga and Goo Goo.
The brains behind Moshi Monsters, a company called Mind Candy, argued otherwise, saying that there were clear differences between them.
The High Court has granted Lady Gaga an injunction preventing Mind Candy from promoting or selling music performed by Lady Goo Goo.
“It’s pretty obvious that kids will be able to tell the difference,” said Mind Candy’s boss, Michael Acton Smith. “The shame is that millions of kids fell in love with Lady Goo Goo’s debut single on YouTube and now won’t be able to enjoy her musical exploits. It was all done in the name of fun and we would have thought that Lady Gaga could have seen the humour behind this parody.”
There are over 50 Moshi Monster characters, which also include Broccoli Spears and Dustbin Beaver.
Moshi Monsters has been a huge success in theUK, which allows children to socially interact with each other through their moshlings.
