'Cute not cute' baby nail pic goes viral
This little one's extremely long nails have really divided the internet...
Whoa... we can see why this seriously unusual pic is getting a lot of attention.
It was shared on Instagram by earth_pix and got more than 34,000 likes and thousands of comments.
As you can probs tell, the image shows a little baby's hand with some very long, pointy nails indeed.
Interestingly, because of the shape of them, a few people have speculated that they've been filed - but here at MFM HQ we're wondering why would anyone do that?
And we do think nails grow naturally a bit thinner towards the top rather than square, which is what we think has happened here.
Most of the commenters online definitely don't think the pic is cute - far from it. The words 'dangerous' and 'stupid' come up plenty of times.
And, if you're a parent, you probably know the issues that can occur when your little one has long nails. As one mum said based on her own experience: "No, not cute. The baby can seriously hurt himself.
"My son has a small scar on his cheek he made with his own nails while sleeping."
Though another did defend the snap saying: "If the baby was JUST born, and the parents decided to take a picture before they cut the nails... they're horrible parents and should have their baby taken away?
"Jeez, armchair warriors are harsh today."
Now, we have to say it can be tricky cutting your baby's nails - one mum on our forum has shared how she nipped her little one's finger by mistake.
But there are tips on how to do it (probably the top one from our mums is to use a nail file rather than clippers or scissors).
And if you are struggling to keep them right down, scratch mittens are a good idea, too.
What do you think?
Do or did you struggle to cut your baby's nails? Any tips that worked? Tell us in the comments below or over on Facebook
