Luisa Zissman criticised for "hating" being pregnant
But were fans right to slam the reality star for just speaking her mind?
Sharing a sickly selfie on her Instagram page a few days ago, pregnant Luisa Zissman wrote:
“Feeling sick in bed with Ellie.... hate growing babies literally don't enjoy anything about pregnancy ??
“It goes on FOREVER too, I mean feels like I've got ages ??? shouldn't moan I know but it's no fun, thank god I adore giving birth ?
“#pregnant #miserable #sicky”
The reality TV star, who is currently expecting her 3rd child, was taking to her social media page to have a little whinge about a myriad of less-than-pleasant pregnancy symptoms.
But instead, she ended up stirring up a bit of a debate – about whether or not it’s insensitive to ‘complain’ about being pregnant at all.
“I was never able to conceive,” one commenter replied. “I'm sorry that you are sick but I would have loved to be pregnant. I hope things get better for you.”
“Please be grateful @luisazissman some us can't conceive,” added another. “2 years in trying and I'd give anything to be feeling like you x”
One took issue with the language she used: “It's not about moaning about symptoms of pregnancy, it's the statement of ‘hating growing babies’.”
While one concluded: “I wish I could be pregnant, lost baby last year and since then can't get pregnant.
"I would give anything to get pregnant. Funny u have two healthy kids third on a way and still find a way to complain.”
Luisa quickly responded to the last one comment, though, writing: “My friend lost her baby last year too, and is now pregnant. Don't give up hope.”
And reminded another: “No one knows each other’s story.”
The overwhelming majority of commenters were quick to agree with Luisa’s assessment of pregnancy – with many revealing bouts of hyperemesis gravadium, sinus problems, swollen everything, leg cramps, heart burn, exhaustion, anxiety and migraines.
“The constantly feeling sick everyday for the past 20 weeks is just draining ? it's so hard to enjoy it when you just don't feel normal. Doesn't mean your ungrateful...no one likes feeling ill!” one mum-to-be replied.
“I think if you can't moan@and groan whilst your growing little people then when can you?
"I have two beautiful babies who are my absolute world but pregnancy definitely does not agree with me ? I end up in hospital due to sickness so I totally sympathise with you,” added another.
“I am 19.5 weeks with my first and not enjoying it at all! Of course we all know how lucky we are but it is hard to remind yourself when faced with 24 hr sickness, heartburn and raging hormones!” shared one fan.
And another: “I'm 19 weeks and exhausted. Constantly feel sick and tired. Have zero energy to cook a decent meal for the family or even buy shopping.
"Back hurts. Can't sleep. And complete cow to my husband and times. Pregnancy is bloody hard work”
One summarised her feelings like this: “I don't think it's fair women are berated for being honest about their feelings, pregnancy isn't the dreamy time represented in the media, it's tough work for a lot of women.”
We have to say, we can really see both sides of the debate – we know all too well the many, many uncomfortable and sometimes debilitating side effects of pregnancy.
But we can also empathise with those who feel total heartache and would give anything to be in that situation.
Have your say
