Lullaby Trust endorses Angelcare baby monitor in landmark move to support bereaved families
New partnership sees 250 baby movement monitors donated to bereaved families while promoting safer sleep for all

In a major moment for baby sleep safety, The Lullaby Trust has officially endorsed a baby monitor for the first time – partnering with Angelcare to gift 250 movement monitors to bereaved families and reinforce its safer sleep guidance.
The AC25-1 Baby Movement Monitor with Video & Sound is the first product of its kind to be recognised by the charity, which works to reduce the risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) and support families affected by baby loss.
The monitors are being donated to families through The Lullaby Trust’s Care of Next Infant (CONI) programme – which offers support to parents who are expecting a baby after losing one.
“For parents who have experienced the loss of a baby, welcoming another child can be filled with mixed emotions,” said a spokesperson from The Lullaby Trust.
This partnership champions the crucial care needed for bereaved families and promotes safer sleep practices for infants.
Why the Angelcare AC25-1 stands out
Designed with contact-free technology and medical certification, the AC25-1 uses a wireless sensor pad under the mattress to detect movement – sounding an alarm only if no movement is detected for 20 seconds. Its wire-free design also aligns with The Lullaby Trust’s recommendation to keep baby’s sleep space clear of loose items.
It’s this blend of tech, simplicity and safety that earned the AC25-1 a near-perfect 4.8-star rating in our recent MadeForMums review.
Parent tester Sophie Rawding, who trialled the monitor with her 4-month-old daughter, said: “This monitor really is an all-round solution which we can envisage using for many years to come and we would highly recommend to other parents.”
Tried, tested, and reassuringly simple
Sophie rated the monitor highly for ease of use, sound and picture quality, and especially appreciated its intuitive setup and thoughtful features – from the two-way talkback to the adjustable room temperature alerts.
“Unlike our previous monitor, the sensor pad comes pre-paired with the camera and unit, so all you need to do is plug in, turn on and you’re ready to use in just a few minutes,” she shared. “The handheld monitor is easy to carry room to room and has great battery life, which really suited our routine.”
Not a substitute – but a support
While The Lullaby Trust is clear that baby monitors can’t prevent SIDS, they acknowledge that the right technology can help parents feel more confident.
In a new factsheet published for parents, they explain that although monitors offer no guaranteed protection, they can provide valuable reassurance – particularly when used alongside recommended safer sleep practices like placing baby on their back, in their own cot, in the same room as parents for the first six months.
This is the first time the charity has partnered with a monitor brand – and they’ve chosen one that mirrors their ethos: medically certified, contact-free, and totally transparent.
More than just a monitor
Angelcare’s support doesn’t stop at the product. They’re also running free monthly webinars hosted by sleep consultant Emily Adams, designed to help new and expectant parents feel more confident about baby sleep. These sessions include practical tips and emotional support. Bookings to the webinars can be found here.
A win for parents who want peace of mind
With so many monitors on the market, this partnership signals a meaningful shift – showing that when done right, tech can support parents’ mental wellbeing without compromising on safety.
And for families navigating life after loss, that extra layer of reassurance can make all the difference.
