Maclaren launches new buggy designed by Ralph Lauren's daughter - exclusive preview
We bring you the UK's very first look at the new Maclaren Dylan’s Candy Bar Buggy, due to arrive in August!
You heard it hear first – Maclaren is about to bring a bright new buggy to the UK. Called the Dylan’s Candy Bar Buggy, it will be the latest addition to Maclaren’s Objects of Design Collection. While it won’t hit our shores until August, we have the UK exclusive to share with you…
Dylan’s Candy Bar Buggy is based on Maclaren’s super-lite Volo. Against the backdrop of a smart black chassis, the water-resistant hood and 5-point safety harness will feature a rainbow of bright candy-coloured stripes. The reversible seat liner is a bold blue with a candy design detail and the raincover has a scattering of sweeties printed on it (check out the images below!). It’s bright and just screams summer fun.
So, exactly who or what is Dylan’s Candy Bar? Dylan is the daughter of designer Ralph Lauren. She is the founder of Dylan’s Candy Bar, a company that calls itself the world's largest candy store. And it’s probably entitled to the name - it sells more than 5,000 kinds of sweeties, sweetie-inspired fashion and jewellery, plus sweetie-themed bath and beauty products.
“It was exciting working with Maclaren to design a Dylan’s Candy Bar inspired stroller for their Objects of Design collection,” said Dylan. “To me, candy is a lifestyle, and I get a sugar rush every time I can give the customer a taste of it with fun products that allow them to experience the Dylan’s Candy Bar brand in a new way.”
Now to the nitty-gritty – what’s the buggy’s performance like? Well, because Dylan’s Candy Bar Buggy uses the Volo as its base, you can expect the same lightness and ease of use. We’re talking 4kg without the hood, raincover or shopping basket! The buggy boasts Maclaren’s well-known compact umbrella-fold, foot-operated brakes, a carry handle and is suitable from 6 months to roughly 3 years (15kg to be exact). We tested the original Maclaren Volo last year, so head to our review for more.
Despite the big name attached, the buggy’s price tag will be small - £125 will bag you the buggy plus shopping basket, hood, seat liner and raincover, as well as Maclaren’s Sovereign Lifetime Warranty.
Oh, and we spoke to Maclaren about that August release date… if you’re dying to get your hands on one, you can pre-order now (phone 01327 841 310). Or jet over to the USA...
