Metanium discontinued: The best alternatives to buy
Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment has been a crowd-pleasing nappy rash cream amongst parents for years and yet suppliers have recently announced the discontinuation of the nappy cream. We've put together a guide of the best alternatives to buy.
Parents are horrified to discover that the well-known Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment Cream has been discontinued due to a mass shortage of production. Mums, dads and carers alike have taken to the internet, as we've seen in our own Top Testers Club Community, to vent their shared pain of losing this product.
The Metanium 'Yellow One' as some parents dubbed it can't be produced anymore "due to constraints that have impacted our ability to guarantee consistent supply and maintain the high standards of excellence we strive for in all our products," says manufacturers Thornton & Ross.
"We understand Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment was a valued product and we assure you that this decision was not taken lightly. Our commitment to continuously providing effective and high-quality products remains unwavering."
Where can I still buy Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment?
If you're lucky, you can still find a few tubes in your local supermarket or pharmacy store —but stock is dwindling.
Purchasing online won't be your safest bet as most places have run out of this sought-after cream. Watch out for individual sellers taking advantage of the situation and pricing the ointment at £30 or more to attract desperate buyers.
Though the treatment ointment has disappeared from the virtual shop shelves, the Metanium Everyday Barrier Ointment is still being produced and available to buy. This is the barrier version that can be used daily to protect your baby's skin during frequent nappy changes. It works to create a protective layer between your baby's bottom, their nappy and any elements within the nappy.
Available from: Amazon and Asda
